Recently, casino games and gambling were often seen as separate. Now, with eSports growing more and more popular, their relationship is closer than ever before.

Casino brands are beginning to recognize this rapidly-emerging market, from creating special eSports casinos and sponsoring teams, to adapting traditional casino games with more skill-based elements that take inspiration from eSports.

eSports is a growing industry

Esports (electronic sports), also known as competitive video gaming events that are broadcast online and attract young audiences, is growing increasingly popular. ESports events are taking off and competing with traditional sports as a form of entertainment; casinos have taken note of this trend and now include eSports into their offerings.

Estimates suggest that eSports revenues exceeded $2 billion in 2019 and are projected to double by 2030 due to increased popularity, new games and platforms, and casino engagement with younger audiences through eSports.

Some casino brands are even forming partnerships with esports teams to promote their casino offerings, such as WinStar World Casino and Resort’s partnership with Complexity Gaming – an important move towards unifying both industries, though many states remain uncertain of their legalities in regards to esports betting and casinos.

It is gaining popularity

ESports (Electronic Sports or “eSports”) are an increasingly popular form of video gaming competition that have quickly grown in popularity over recent years. Through competitive play in tournaments organized by ESports organizations, this multi-billion dollar industry has even attracted professional athletes, who compete against each other for cash prizes and other rewards.

According to market research company Newzoo’s report, eSports industry is expanding rapidly with nearly 500 million casual and enthusiast viewers worldwide – an increase of one billion since 2015 when this field first became widespread.

ESports have experienced rapid expansion due to the widespread appeal of multiplayer games like Fortnite and League of Legends that attract thousands of concurrent users at any one time. Furthermore, virtual reality (VR) technology enables gamers to experience live games more realistically – thus increasing excitement for both spectators and participants.

It is gaining traction with the younger demographic

In recent years, eSports has experienced exponential growth. Gone are the days when gamers were seen as social outcasts; instead, today Clement Ivanov and Lee Sang-Hyeok have created entire careers from their gaming skills; making the iGaming industry increasingly competitive while encouraging players to take their game seriously.

Casinos are beginning to recognize this growing interest in eSports tournaments and have begun hosting them at their locations, starting with Caesars’ new eSports Arena in Las Vegas as the inaugural one. Other casinos have even sponsored teams or introduced themed slot machines modeled on eSports tournaments as an extension of gameplay. Even slots developers are starting to incorporate skill into their gameplay for an enhanced player experience.

eSports industry holds great potential, and has found favor among younger demographics. It provides a great way to engage people with video gaming while helping them make informed gambling decisions; but, it must be remembered that this sector remains young and expanding – raising concerns regarding its long-term sustainability.

It is becoming a popular form of gambling

Esports gambling is becoming an increasingly popular form of gambling among younger generations and online casinos alike, becoming an attractive revenue stream as more people bet on their favorite teams. This trend is expected to continue as more people embrace eSports as part of mainstream society.

eSports has grown quickly over time and is projected to generate over $1 billion by 2022, drawing investors, advertisers, fans and investors from all around the world. This rapid expansion can be attributed to increasing viewership as well as competitive gaming’s ever-increasing popularity.

Esports transforms video gaming into spectator sports similar to NBA or NFL competition. People enjoy watching professional athletes at their peak perform, just as they enjoy watching eSports competitors do the same thing. This has lead to leagues and tournaments being developed that have gained wide-spread attention among traditional sports fans; moreover, colleges have started developing their own eSports programs as a result.
